Yes, it’s that time of year again. Can’t believe how fast the years seem to roll around anymore. This Christmas will be the second year without our sweet “Mama Moore”. She was such an amazing, shining light in our lives. Anyone who has lost a loved one knows the pain that the holidays can bring. We do feel her spirit and somehow know she’s with us, and that does help. We are very happy that we will be spending Christmas and New Year’s Eve this year with our sister, Dee, who will be here in Nashville (from Arizona). We always have fun together!
Because of the loss of our mother last year, the fan club has not been the same. She was our president and biggest fan! With that being said, changes are coming to the club...
The Moore & Moore Fan Club has been active for over 30 years! The club received a GOLD STAR rating continuously (26 years) from the International Fan Club Organization (IFCO). A Gold Star rating means the club issued 100% or more of the materials promised to our members. We have had a great run!
Of course, a lot has happened in 30 years as far as "keeping in touch" goes. We now have social media, digital downloads, streaming, online newsletters, etc. Because of this, we have made the decision to no longer be a "paper" fan club. In other words, we will no longer mail materials via USPS to our members. If you are a member, or have recently joined, you will still receive materials by postal mail through June 2019.
We will still have a fan club, but there will be no cost to you! You can join our email list and get updates about upcoming shows, new music, the latest news, and of course, information about our annual fan club party! If you’re not already on the list, just go to our website and click on “Fan Club Info” and enter your email address.
We’ll continue to have an online newsletter on our website, and you can still write and keep in touch with us the old fashioned way via the fan club address (P.O. Box 334, Kingston Springs, TN 37082), although that address will also be changing in June 2019. We’ll keep you posted!
We’re working on some new shows for next year, so we’ll have more dates going up on the website soon. In the meantime, we know our fan club party will be on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, most likely the same venue as last year. Again, we’ll keep you in the loop! We’ll also be in New Mexico and Texas next year, and it looks like we’ll once again be going on the Country Music Cruise (January 27-Feb. 3) with stops in Ft. Lauderdale, Key West, St. Thomas, USVI and Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. We’re two blessed gals, and we’re looking forward to spending time with country music greats, including our friends, Jeannie Seely, Johnny Lee, T.G. Sheppard and more!
On a more somber note, we have lost some wonderful friends and family members this past year. We were so sad to learn of Dave Rowland’s passing. He was the sweetest man, and what a voice! We were extremely honored to sing with him at our fan club party last year. We performed a few of the “Dave & Sugar” hits together and it was magical! We were so looking forward to more shows together, but God called him home to join the heavenly choir. May he rest in peace, and God bless his wife, Terri and family.
We also recently lost a beautiful soul and fan club member, Linda Shields. Linda loved “real country music” and she supported and encouraged us, along with many other traditional country artists. We will miss her, but it comforts us to know that she is with her mother in heaven, who we know she missed so much. God speed, sweet Linda.
Roy Clark also left this world for his heavenly home just last month. It was an honor and privilege to know such a kind and giving soul. His own words sum it all up:
“Before we go any farther, I want to lay somethin’ on you; it’s not heavy and it’s not to imply that you don’t already do it. It’s just a reminder… to all of us.
The next chance you get, do somethin’ nice for somebody – say ‘good day,’ hold a door open – and don’t wait around for a thank you… you don’t need it. And because of you, that person will go out and do something nice for somebody, and then that person will go out and do something nice for someone else, and this whole world can wind up doing nice things for each other and we can be the ones that start it. It takes all of us working together to get things done – no one does it alone. Only One did and I’m not that strong. Let’s start it – here’s to love – it’s still the best!” – Roy Clark
We want to thank our awesome fans for being a member of the “paper” fan club, some for the entire 31 years! It’s been a blast, and there’s “Moore” to come! We will continue to keep in touch with everyone online (via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc) and with email updates. Our final “paper” newsletter will hit your mailboxes in late May/early June 2019 (before “Fan Fair).
Merry Christmas y’all, and God bless us every one,
Debbie & Carrie
In loving memory of our aunt, Doris Carlyle, and our cousin, Susan Carlyle Cindric... Our loss, and heaven’s gain.
