Moore & Moore Newsletter/Autumn 2012
IT'S FALL YA'LL!
Happy Fall Ya’ll! We had fun at the CMA Music Festival, didn’t we? The 15th Annual Fan Club Party was fabulous at the Nashville Palace with our special guests, MOE BANDY, JANIE FRICKE, TRACEY K. HOUSTON, JEANETTE DOREL, BOBBY MARQUEZ, RUSS VARNELL and CLUE! The FAN CLUB MEMBER OF THE YEAR Award Winner is LANCE SEAN KUHENS from Clarksburg, WV, and the FAN CLUB MEMBER OF THE DECADE Award Winner is BILL DEVERELL from Cary, NC. Congratulations! Special thanks to our sponsor, MOORE’S MARINADE for supplying us with goodies and giveaways! Thanks to everyone for being a member of the club and for attending one of the best parties during Fan Fair, even if I do say so myself! Moore & Moore did a great job hosting and singing at the Classic Country Show at the Bud Light Stage in downtown Nashville, and were also part of a great benefit show at the Music City Bar & Grill for St. Jude Children’s Hospital (one of Debbie & Carrie’s favorite charities). Over $5,000 was raised! All in all, it was a great CMA Music Festival week! Mark your calendars for next year’s fan club party— Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Nashville Palace!
I’m a little behind getting this newsletter out, but I have a great excuse. I always thought I had a heart of gold, but the doctors are telling me otherwise. I had to go in the hospital in late June with congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. I’m doing fine now, but from what I hear, I wasn’t doing so well there for a little while. After I got out of the hospital in Nashville, I was able to go back to Missouri and spend time with my grandkids for a couple weeks, and just this past month I have been vacationing in Florida with my daughter, Diana. I’m being monitored with blood tests, EKGs, etc., but my doctor advised me to keep doing what I like to do, so I am! I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I try to keep this old body going. As Bette Davis said, “Getting old ain’t for sissies.”
Debbie & Carrie have been promoting their new CD with road shows & radio interviews. They recently filmed a new video for the song, “Show Me Your Country” and are also working on the intro for their new show, as that song will be the title and theme. As soon as the video is complete, we’ll let you know so you can check it out! Our next newsletter will go out in December. Until then, Happy Columbus Day, Happy Halloween & Happy Thanksgiving! JUST CELEBRATE LIFE! :-)
Vivian Moore, President
A NOTE FROM DEBBIE & CARRIE:
Hi everybody! We hope you’re enjoying the last moments of summertime, as the shorter, cooler days are just around the corner! It’s been a crazy hot summer. Not long after Fan Fair, “Mama Moore” had to go into the hospital and gave us a big scare with some major heart problems. Thank God she’s doing much better now. We just have to keep a close eye on her, and as you all know, that’s not easy! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Prayer is definitely the best “medicine”. :-) Because Mom has slowed down a little, we are seriously considering changing the frequency of the newsletter to two times a year instead of four—maybe sending it out in June & December—but still updating everyone online through our blog on our website and MySpace site (and also the latest news on our Facebook page). Let us know your thoughts. We would like to do everything online and send out newsletters to members by email directly (a Word or PDF file), but we also know that not all of our fan club members have an email account or access to the internet. Just let us know if you have any suggestions.
We recently had a 3-day run in Indiana and Ohio performing with the Carl Acuff, Jr. Band and Nathan Osmond. Carl and Nathan are incredible performers and great guys to be around. Thanks to our fan club members for coming to the shows and spending some time with us. We all had a fantastic time together!
We were so happy to be invited to Mel Tillis’ 80th Birthday Party on August 8th at Honky Tonk Central in Nashville. There were about 400 people there, including Pam Tillis, Charley Pride, Bobby Bare and so many others! Mel looks and sounds great! He performed a little with his band and also sang a song with Pam. It was awesome!
We were recently guests on the “Coffee, Country & Cody” morning show on WSM Radio. We hope you were able to tune in! We will also be on an upcoming “WSM All Nighter” with Marcia Campbell. That show starts at midnight weekdays and is also LIVE. We’re not sure what evening we will be on yet, but we’ll try to let you know in advance so you can tune in, especially if you’re night owls like us! We have been doing several radio interviews to promote our new album, and it has been interesting to find out which song is everyone’s favorite. It seems to be different for everybody, so maybe that’s a good thing! Please let us know what your favorite song is from the “Show Me Your Country” CD. We would also like to know your top 3 favorite songs of all time from ANY of our CDs. We are thinking about doing a “Best Of Moore & Moore” album, and we need your input!
We are in the process of filming/editing a new video for the song, “Show Me Your Country”. We filmed for 2 days in August in and around Nashville and Ashland City, TN driving in a bright red ‘57 Chevy convertible! Thanks to our friend, Jerry Prince, for bringing the car from Illinois and having the courage to let us drive it, especially on Lower Broad in downtown Nashville on a Saturday. We got quite the stares! We’ll let you know when the video is complete and where you can see it!
We had the pleasure of singing at a wedding in Forsyth, MT in August. Our friend and fellow singer/booking agent, Patricia Ryan, had a fabulous wedding complete with beautiful decorations, including a mason jar chandelier! Barbara Fairchild and her husband, Roy, also sang and officiated. We all had a blast together and fortified the love we have for our Montana “family”! Congratulations to Patricia & Kelly Morford!
We also had a great time with Jeannie Seely last month at the Sandusky County Fair in Fremont, OH. We performed with the Uptown Country Band, and the band leader, Jim Sleek, made us a custom bass drum head to display during the show. Very cool! Of course, we always have fun when we sing, but being on the road with Jeannie is even more fun! She’s a true pro, and a great friend!
We just got back from the DuQuoin State Fair in DuQuoin, IL. We were supposed to perform 2 shows in 2 days, but were rescheduled for 2 shows in one day. The first day was a washout thanks to Hurricane Isaac. The rain just kept coming down and caused some flash flooding. We stayed on the bus and watched while people waded through the water. Before it was all over with, we ended up braving the elements and enjoyed some “fair food” including barbecue and corn dogs in the beer tent. We did consider a deep-fried Twinkie or Zero candy bar, but decided against it. ;-)
We’ll be heading to McLeansboro, IL in a couple weeks to perform at the Fall Festival on the Town Square with Billy Yates and the Bellamy Brothers. That should be a fun night! We’ll also be in Scottsburg, IN on September 29. Hope you can make it to one of our shows!
We’ll be going in the studio this month to work on a couple new tunes for release in the UK to coincide with a 2013 Spring Tour. We’ll let you know “moore” about that in our next newsletter!
Keep in touch and let us know what’s going on in your world. We love to hear from you! Happy Birthday to our sweet mom and Fan Club President on October 29!
Have an awesome Autumn!
