Moore & Moore Newsletter/Summer 2014
It’s here… the CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair is upon us! Hope you can catch Moore & Moore somewhere during the week, and especially at the Fan Club Party on Wednesday, June 4 at the Nashville Palace! Our special guests include David Frizzell, Goldman Hills (with Jaysen Gold, Hillary Gold and Brian Seligman), Marty Haggard, Becky Hobbs, Jan Howard and Johnny Rodriguez! Check out the tour schedule for more info. It will be a fun night, so if you’re coming to Nashville, please make plans to join us! Other appearances for Moore & Moore during CMA week include the Hard Rock Café on Monday night, the “R.O.P.E Brunch with the Stars” on Wednesday morning, and the Music City Center on Friday afternoon to perform on the WSM/Durango Music Spot Stage and sign autographs at the WSM booth. Check out the itinerary and also our website tour schedule for any last minute news.
Have you seen the new video, “Show Me Your Country”? It debuted on CMT.com on March 13 with the broadcast premiere on the weekly syndicated television show, “Young Country” on March 16! Keep watching for it, as it has been added to several video stations/outlets in the USA, Ireland, Italy, and even Romania!... and of course, you can also see it on our website and on YouTube. Just Google it, and you’ll find it. The song hit the Top Ten on the European HotDisc chart and #4 on the Country Western Line Dance chart in Italy!
Debbie & Carrie have been doing some traveling, with more to come! Practically the whole family traveled to our hometown of Belton, MO in April to work at the old homestead, and also see Moore & Moore perform at the Middle Creek Theatre in Louisburg, KS. We were all glad to visit with people that we haven’t seen in quite awhile! We may do that again before the year is out, so we’ll keep you posted. Moore & Moore have shows coming up in Maine, Illinois and even Haiti, Grand Cayman and Jamaica! Keep checking the schedule, as there are quite a few things brewing!
I’ll be happy to see everyone at the Fan Club Party, and hopefully a few other places in Nashville during the week. It’s always great to see old friends and make new ones! Our next newsletter will be out in September. In the meantime, Happy Father’s Day, Happy Independence Day, and HAPPY SUMMER!
Vivian Moore, President
A Note from Debbie & Carrie
Hope everyone is doing great and looking forward to some good country music at the upcoming CMA Music Festival. Of course, for our long-time friends and fans, we know that Festival as “Fan Fair”. The Johnson Sisters, Loudilla, Loretta & Kay, who formed IFCO—the International Fan Club Organization—were the ones who started “Fan Fair”. They organized Loretta Lynn’s first fan club back in 1963. As Loretta Lynn stated in her memoirs, “Shoot, we started the whole week’s long event called Fan Fair together, even though none of us got the credit for it”. Music Historian Robert Oermann said, “The Johnsons were supporting the fans long before there was a Fan Fair, and from the beginning of what became the CMA Music Festival, they were intimately involved. Loretta, the sister who died in 2009, was sort of the spark plug that started the whole thing, but it was Loudilla who was the most business-minded of the three sisters. All three of them were zany and fun. They were devoted to country music. They were nothing but love." Our lovely friend, Loudilla Johnson, whom we’ve know for close to 30 years, passed away on May 7 at the age of 75. Our love and prayers go out to Kay and the rest of the family. Loudilla was and IS an angel. We can’t begin to explain how much we’ll miss her, especially as “Fan Fair” approaches. So many memories… Godspeed girlfriend...
We had a blast in Arcadia, Florida in March performing with Moe Bandy, Janie Fricke, David Frizzell, T.G. Sheppard and John Conlee, and also had a GREAT time in Louisburg, KS in April. Thanks so much to our fans, friends & family for being there. It was wonderful to see your smiling faces in the audience. Your support means so much to us. THANK YOU!
Looks like we’ll be cruising in December on Royal Caribbean’s “Nathan Osmond Cruise” to Grand Cayman, Jamaica & Haiti departing from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to benefit Children’s Miracle Network. We’ll also have the opportunity to visit some local orphanages. Come join us for the trip of a lifetime! See our schedule for more details.
See you SOON! Love, Debbie & Carrie
